You Should Play More 6/10 Games

GameSpot had this video series called The Kurt Locker, and if you’ve never heard of it, that’s kind of the whole point. It didn’t get many views, which I’d guess is part of why it was discontinued. A shame, because the series deserved a lot more attention.

This episode, “In Defense of the 6/10,” does exactly what it says. Kurt unpacks the review-score obsession a lot of us have — the kind where you skip straight to the number and that’s the whole review.

Definitely worth watching, and maybe the rest of the series too.

My personal 6/10 is Jackie Chan Stuntmaster on the PS1. Not the greatest game by any stretch, but I grew up in a household that watched a lot of Jackie’s movies, and the game captured the energy, charm, and slapstick chaos of those films better than its score probably suggests.
